Volkswagen has revealed the 2010 VW Touareg
It’s not too hard to work out we’re coming up to one of the major motor shows on the calendar. The reveals are starting to speed up – this time with the Volkswagen Touareg in it’s new clothes. But it’s not just new clothes the Touareg is wearing, there’s lots more going on under the skin as well. A bit longer than the original, the 2010/2011 Touareg has had a major visual overhaul.
The new BMW M3 and M4 on track at the Nurburgring
The next instalment for the new BMW 3 and 4 Series is the arrival of the new range-topping, benchmark-setting BMW m3 and M4 at Detroit in January. Ahead of that, BMW has already given us plenty of the specs for both the 2014 M3 and M4. They include the arrival of a new 3.0 litre turbo engine for the M3 and M4 offering 424bhp and 369lb/ft of torque – more than the old 4.0 litre petrol could muster – attached to a manual gearbox as standard with a tweaked seven-speed dual-clutch auto as an option.
The Ford Fiesta eWheelDrive – a driveable research vehicle built by Ford and German specialists Schaeffler – may be a regular supermini in size, but it points towards a potential future EV which is much more compact and very manoeuvrable. Ford has taken a regular Fiesta and dumped its powertrain, replacing it with a battery bank where the engine would be and fitted a pair of in-hub electric motors on the rear wheels. But the plan is to build new cars with the batteries under the floor which frees up the space under the bonnet which can then be all but removed to create a very compact urban car that still has space for four.
